As part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month 2018, we are co-sponsoring an event with Gender Equity Center and Panhellenic Council called “Light the Night”. On October 22, 2018, Old Main Lawn will brighten by holding hundreds of hand decorated luminary bags to honor victims and
survivors of domestic and relationship violence. We need your help!
Decorate a Bag.
Write something inspirational to a survivor. Honor a
survivor. Share something as a survivor. Your bag can be anything from simple to elaborate. You have full creative license. Do you know a group that would be willing to decorate bags as a group? We want as much participation as possible to support this community and campus collaboration. Bags will need to be completed and returned by October 12th. Please
contact firstname.lastname@example.org to pick up bags to decorate.
Help Set-up the Luminaries
Starting at 5:00 p.m. meet us at Old Main to start filling the decorated bags with sand. We can’t have enough helpers for this! Bring your friends and help support this event. Set-up will last from 5-7pm.
Tear Down the Luminaries
Starting at 9 p.m. we will be taking the bags down and emptying the sand.
If you know anyone who would like sand following this event, we will have 200+ pounds of sand that needs a good home.
If you, or any group that you know, would be able to help with any aspect of this event,
please contact Mary Ohashi, email@example.com or call at 814-238-7066.
