–2nd Annual Break the Silence about Domestic Violence Event
Saturday, October 17, 2015 1-6 pm, Chester Hills Borough Building
Philipsburg, PA —

The 2nd Annual Break the Silence about Domestic Violence Event will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Chester Hill Borough Building, 920 Walton Street, Philipsburg, PA. This event was started by several family members in the Philipsburg community who lost a loved one as a result of a domestic violence fatality. Proceeds from this event will be shared between two local domestic violence agencies – the Centre County Women’s Resource Center and Crossroads.
“It takes a community to make a difference and unfortunately our community is no stranger to these tragic events but we can make a difference by standing up and raising awareness about the crime of domestic violence”, said Jody Althouse, Director of Outreach and Education at the Centre County Women’s Resource Center.
The event will begin at 1:00 with comments from survivors, domestic violence service providers, Representative Scott Conklin and Representative Tommy Sankey and will conclude with a Remembrance Walk from 5:00 – 6:00 pm to honor the victims from the Philipsburg area who lost their lives as a result of domestic violence.
