Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
At the Children’s Advocacy Center:

  1. Provide counseling, advocacy and referrals to child victims, non-offending caregiver (s) and others as part of the Children’s Advocacy Center response to reports of child abuse.
  2. Provide advocacy to non-offending caregiver (s) during the forensic interview and attend the post interview meeting with the non-offending caregiver to ensure concerns and questions of the caregiver are presented.
  3. Provide appropriate follow up with clients receiving Children’s Advocacy Center services.
  4. Participate in the Children’s Advocacy Center Multidisciplinary team case reviews.
  5. Under the supervision of the Counseling and Advocacy Team director, oversee scheduling victim advocates for Child Advocacy Center interviews.
  6. Enter appropriate client information in the Children’s Advocacy Center database and the CCWRC database to track client services.
  7. Upon request, provide advocacy and referrals to out of county clients of the Advocacy Center.
  8. Provide legal advocacy and accompaniment to clients of the Children’s Advocacy Center in court as appropriate.

At the Women’s Resource Center:

  1. Provide counseling, crisis intervention and legal advocacy to victims of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.
  2. Participate as a member of the Counseling and Advocacy Services Team.
  3. Assist clients in filing Victim’s Compensation Assistance Program (VCAP) claims
  4. Assist with writing and filing of Protection from Abuse Orders, provide information about the legal system, make referrals and provide accompaniment to court with victims of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.
  5. As part of the Counseling and Advocacy Services team, follow-up with all legal advocacy clients.
  6. Participate in regular case management meetings with staff to discuss specific Domestic Violence situations.
  7. Attend staff meetings and case management meetings.
  8. Participate in emergency rotation schedule for the hotline. Maintain client confidentiality.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare reports required by the Board of Directors, the Director and funding agencies.
  2. Participate in Center committees and teams when appropriate.
  3. Maintain current knowledge in the field and attend seminars/workshops to increase professional knowledge and effectiveness.
  4. Is under supervision of the Director of Counseling and Advocacy Services.

Qualifications:

Completion of the Centre County Women’s Resource Center Volunteer Advocate training.  Degree in counseling, social work, or related field and/or experience in the provision of direct services to women and children.  A strong commitment to providing quality services to Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence survivors.  Strong daily commitment to:

  • the provision of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault services with a feminist perspective;
  • the struggle against ageism, classism, racism, ableism, homophobia and heterosexism;
  • support and involve people of all racial, social, ethnic, religious, cultural and economic groups;
  • must meet qualifications and receive Act 33 and 34 clearances

Must have reliable means of transportation
